tour of HollandSail through the Dutch and Belgian waterways in springtime and admire the beautifully colourful tulips that cover the landscape. Medieval cities and picturesque towns line the banks of the tranquil rivers, providing a home for the fascinating museums and local markets. The Netherlands is filled with charming architecture, quaint cafes and canal lined streets where you can enjoy relaxing trips on boats or simply watch the world go by. A tour of Holland by river cruise is the perfect way to experience the many delights on offer in this region, from the tulip-filled fields to the cosmopolitan cities.

A tour of Holland is not complete without a visit to Amsterdam, one of the most famous cities in the region. As a vibrant and popular European city, every year it attracts many visitors who come to enjoy the vivid bulbfields and the numerous attractions in the city. You can sail along the historic canals that meander throughout the city on a local boat, a recommended way to get to know and enjoy the stunning views of Amsterdam. The canals provide an incredible vantage point to view the city, there are picturesque churches dotted amongst the banks such as the Westerkerk, a protestant church built in 1620-1631. The church is steeped in history with the famous artist Rembrandt being buried here in 1669 and it being located close to the Anne Frank House. The churches' spire is the highest in Amsterdam and could be seen from the attic of the house Anne Frank and her family hid in during World War II.

Amsterdam is located next to the province of Utrecht, whose biggest city of the same name is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. The world-famous Keukenhof Gardens, which are located in Utrecht, are home to over 100 varieties of glorious tulips and are opened every spring for the public to admire the beauty. Over 7 million flower bulbs are planted by hand every year in preparation for the spring season and the gardens are one of Europe's most valued attractions.  Visitors can stroll around the 15 kilometres of footpaths when on a tour of Holland by visiting the unique Keukenhof Gardens, witnessing the colourful bulbs and taking memorable photographs.

When taking a tour of Holland along the peaceful waterways the small villages and charming towns are well worth a visit. The historic old town of Edam is most famous for its cheese but it also boasts genuine 17th century architecture. The Edam Museum is a popular stop to learn more about the town. The museum was built originally as a house in 1530, the oldest brick house in Edam, but was turned into a museum in 1895. The layout inside the building is originally intact, complete with its original 'floating cellar'. The town still holds a weekly cheese market throughout the months of July and August when many tourists on tours of Holland visit the town.
