Tours of scotland and loch ness cruises

Sail along the enchanting Caledonian Canal on our incredible lochs and islands tours of Scotland. Explore UNESCO listed cities, colourful villages and breathtaking landscapes in the Scottish Highlands and beyond. The Caledonian Canal runs from Inverness in the northeast to Fort William in the southwest, with its 62 miles of water passing through breathtaking beauty spots and 29 lochs. As you sail through the lochs and witness the rugged coastlines, immerse yourself in the history, myths and legends of the many villages, castles and waterways, including one of the most famous myths of all - the Loch Ness Monster.

Our tours of Scotland are aboard the historic and individual MV Lord of the Glens, the only passenger vessel of its kind. The ship is designed to navigate both the Scottish inland waters of the Caledonian Canal and the open sea. This classic ship boasts a rich mahogany interior and a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for viewing the plentiful landscape from a unique, comfortable and warm vantage point. Cabins are also tastefully furnished and many have large picture windows providing an incredible viewpoint to witness the scenery 24 hours a day. The bar is also a great place to socialise and enjoy the unique Scottish culture on our tours of Scotland, as many local performers provide regular entertainment.

As you sail through the beautiful Scottish waterways you may arrive at Loch Lomond, Britain's biggest body of inland water. This freshwater loch is often passed on the way to Oban, a beautiful small town that translates as 'little bay' in Gaelic. The port town of Oban is home to some great attractions including the Oban Distillery, Dunollie Castle and McCaig's Tower. The tower dominates much of the town's skyline and was built in 1897 to act as a monument for the McCaig family. Its design was based on the Colosseum in Rome and today it serves as a public garden. This pretty little town is a perfect port of call on tours of Scotland.

Another unique and pretty town on the route of the Caledonian Canal is Tobermory. This picturesque town is a popular stop during tours of Scotland and is most famous for its row of colourful houses that line the harbour. The town has a variety of shops, hotels and museums dedicated to the towns history, such as the Tobermory Museum. In the museum you can learn about the Spanish ship which is said to have sunk in the towns harbour during the retreat of the Spanish Armada in 1588. When visiting Tobermory not only will you be enchanted by the pastel-painted houses, but also the colourful boats bobbing around in the harbour and the towns backdrop of steep and leafy wooded hills.

As you sail peacefully along the Caledonian Canal you will arrive at Neptune's Staircase - a series of eight interconnecting lochs. The structure was designed by Thomas Telford and is one of the biggest loch staircases in Britain. Whilst you sail along the canal you will see Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, standing majestically in the background looking over the lochs. As you wind through more unspoilt Highland scenery on our tours of Scotland, you may arrive at one of the most famous lochs in the world - Loch Ness. Famed for its mysterious inhabitant, the Loch Ness is one of the largest lochs in Scotland.

Scotland is home to a variety of attractions, both natural and created. Dunvegan Castle offers visitors a wealth of history to explore. Having been owned by the same family for over eight centuries, Dunvegan is Scotland's oldest continually owned and occupied castle. The castle is picturesque and fortress like, a great attraction to visit when on tours of Scotland. The Isle of Skye is home to some breathtaking natural beauty including the dramatic Cuillin Mountains. These black mountains and red hills touch the sky with their jagged peaks that are visible all over the island.

Our tours of Scotland aboard the MV Lord of the Glens uncover a whole range of breathtaking scenery and fascinating history. Pretty villages such as Flowerdale are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, with beautiful waterfalls and plenty of walking paths for visitors in the area. Depending on the cruise you choose you will also visit one of Scotland's largest cities, either Inverness or the capital Edinburgh, where there are many sights and activities for you to enjoy before you embark on the historic MV Lord of the Glens for one of the most comprehensive tours of Scotland, including its rural Highland.
